Fun and informal activities will fill the streets and provide lots of entertainment for the whole family. In addition, a number of scheduled activities are planned, some taking pre-registration, and some requiring that you dress for the occasion—please review and plan to take part!

Kids Scavenger Hunt: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Let the kids discover McMaster’s campus with this fun and educational activity. Meeting point, central campus.

Campus Tours: 11:30 am – 3:30 pm

Explore the beautiful McMaster campus in an enlightening guided walking tour. Meeting point, central campus.

Open Lectures: 11:30 am and 1:00 pm

Learn from two of McMaster’s exceptional professors in these “Classes without Quizzes”. Bring the kids along to see what a university lecture is like!

11:30 am: “What is the universe made of?” Dr. Cliff Burgess, Professor, Physics & Astronomy

1:00 pm: “The science of instructional design and University 2.0” Dr. Joe Kim, Assoc. Professor, Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour

The centuries old tradition of the university is ready for change and educators should pay attention to research on best practice, learning technology and cognitive processes underlying effective learning. Dr. Joe Kim explains how research from the science of instructional design is helping to reboot the university to serve the next generation of learners.

McMaster Museum of Art:
Open from 11 am – 4pm. Tours at 11 am & 2 pm

Explore the cultural hub of campus and treasure of a museum in our neighbourhood!

Titles Bookstore: Open 11 am – 4 pm

Selling great Mac wear, stationery, computers and...books!

Mills Memorial Library: Opens at 12 pm

Visit the state of the art library. Community members can apply for a borrower's card.

Planetarium Tours:
20 minute shows running every half hour, beginning at 11:30 am, located in Burke Science Building, lower level, Room B149.

Enjoy a tour of the night skies above Hamilton, through the Solar System and beyond at McMaster’s own Planetarium.

*Registrations recommended to reserve your spot in these popular and limited seating shows.  Register here: www.physics.mcmaster.ca/planetarium. Walk-ins are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Live Music & Dance: Enjoy live entertainment throughout the day on two stages, one on Sterling St. and the other on the lawns in centre campus, featuring the music and talents of:

  • Bhangra Dance Company

Get Active!: 11:00 am – 4:00pm

Visit the Athletics & Recreation Active FuN Zone on central campus to participate in Pro Vs. Joe sports such as street hockey or basketball; participate in fitness class demos including Zumba; and learn about a number of recreational clubs open to the community.  Be sure to look out for MAC the Marauder!

...AND, plan to visit the athletic complex and try out the facilities yourself!

David Braley Athletic Centre Open House: 11am – 4 pm

Explore the amazing facility and see what is available to community members.

The Pulse: take in a work out and check out our state of the art fitness gym

Open Swim: Ivor Wynne Pool, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Kayaking in the Pool: Ivor Wynne Pool, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Feather Family Climbing Wall: 12:00pm – 3:00 pm.

Instructors are on hand to help you try your footing on this 30’ x 36’ climbing wall. All ages!

TowerSquash: 11 am – 4pm

Try your hand in one of our squash courts – (goggles mandatory).

Basketball, Volleyball and Badminton:
11 am – 3 pm

The Sport Hall in David Braley Athletic Centre is open for casual games of pick-up.

High Ropes on The Altitude Tower:
12 pm - 3 pm

Located on the edge of campus, behind Alumni Field, the tower's combination of traditional high ropes elements and unique climbing routes provides participants with a wide range of personal challenges. All ages!
