How to Get Your Protocol Cleared by the Ethics Board: Tips and Traps - Workshop presentation by Dr. Daphne Maurer, Chair of the McMaster Research Ethics Board

Public List of Protocol Titles Cleared by MREB Effective January 1, 2006, it is the policy of MREB to post a list of cleared protocols on the Research Ethics website. Posted information usually includes: Project Number, Title of Project: Names of Investigators, Department of Principal Investigator, and Type of Project; (i.e. PhD; Faculty; Masters etc.) Researchers may request that the title of their project be eliminated from these data. In all cases this request will be honoured, but the researcher will be asked to provide a reason for making the request for the information of the Board.

Conditional "In Principle" Approval for the Release of Funds - Tri-Council MOU If you are a researcher with Tri-Council funded research (other research sponsors may have a similiar policy) you may apply for an "in principle" conditional release of funds for administrative start up costs only, usually on a pro-rated basis. [Schedule 2.1(f)]This still involves completing as much of the application form as possible and submitting it to the ethics office. Please contact the ethics office (ethicsoffice@mcmaster.ca Tel: 905-525-9140 ext. 23142) if you would like to learn more.
