Mosaic Update

Student Functions
December 11, 2015

This update summarizes the ongoing work on several issues of concern to those who work with Mosaic’s student functions. A complete list of the current top priority issues related to student functions in Mosaic is available and updated weekly.

Grade Entry

Modest changes to the grade entry process were made last week. A subsequent message to instructors, faculty members and student administrators explained the changes and advised instructors of the grade entry drop-in labs where they can receive assistance entering their fall grades. One update from that message: for undergraduate courses "INC" grades must be placed by the faculty office; however, for graduate courses, instructors may place a grade of "INC.”

Reinstates

Students who were reinstated in a program have found that credits earned before the reinstatement were not applied to their degree requirements after the reinstatement. These credits should be recognized. An interim manual solution is being tested and if successful, a permanent and automated process will be developed.

Transfer Credit

Both In-Progress and Completed Transfer Credits (approved and final grades received from the other institution) will now show up appropriately on the advisement report to satisfy a degree audit requirement.

Enter minimum grade points/unit for student course exceptions

A slight process change is required on the part of academic advisors to prevent student with course exceptions from satisfying degree requirements with a failed or cancelled grade. When creating a course exception for a student, the advisor must enter minimum grade points/units. In a case where this was not done, the advisor can retroactively enter the minimum grade points/units and re-run the advisement report. The failed/cancelled course will no longer satisfy a requirement on the new report.

Maximum credit error after A/B drop

The Maximum Unit Load error that was appearing for students who dropped the second half of a two-term course (a.k.a., an A/B course) has been resolved by the Records team. If you encounter this error, please contact the Records office with the student number.
