Dear Pat,

The idea of a failure in "immune deviation" (didn't you previously use this term to connote the opposite?) to a (IFN-gamma-mediated)Th1 response as a primary mechanism in the persistence/development of atopy is attractive and supported by the data presented.
But what comes first--the failure of immune deviation (Th1 maturation) or the persistence of Th2? And how do might the gene(s) that we recognise as being associated with atopy dictate this failure of immune deviation and/or persistence of Th2 responses?
