The Interdisciplinary Health Research Group (IHRG) came together
in early 1994 to study processes of complaining against nurses and
physicians. The IHRG is particularly interested in how such complaints
processes are related to restructuring in health services, and to broader
cultural changes such as the rise of consumerism and new patterns in the
relations between health service providers and patients.
Our Group brings together researchers from Health Sciences, Sociology, and Geography. We believe that, by situating complaints of patients against health professionals within this broader context, lessons
can be learned about how to minimize complaints and enhance the quality of
health care.
