Encrypted WPA Wireless - macOS (10.12.x)

These instructions apply to macOS 10.12.x (Sierra) only. Use these instructions to connect your Sierra based Apple MAC to the McMaster Mac-WiFi/Reznet-WiFi/eduroam wireless networks. Mac-WiFi/Reznet-WiFi/eduroam uses Wireless Protected Access (or WPA2 for short) and provides encryption between your computer and the Wireless Access Point that you connect to.

  • Requirements:
    • Macintosh running macOS 10.12.X or later (Sierra)
    • Airport wireless card and software (802.11 compliant)

macOS Setup:

  1. From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences and then select the Network icon.
  2. Select Wi-Fi from the list on the left and make sure Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar is checked. Change the Network Name pop down and click on Join Other Network.
  3. Under Network Name, enter Mac-WiFi exactly as shown (it's case sensitive). Under Security, select WPA2 Enterprise from the drop down menu. Enter your MAC ID for Username and Password. Check the box Remember this network. Finally click the Join button.
  4. You will be prompted to verify the certificate. Click the Show Certificate button and click Continue.
  5. Verify the certificate is and check the box beside Always trust "". Click Continue.
  6. On the Network Window, click the Apply button in the lower right. In about 20-30 seconds, the status of the connection should read Authenticated and the Network Name should read Mac-WiFi.Close the Network window.
