Cheryl-Ann Jackson, a McMaster alumnus from Trinidad, came to McMaster as an international student and began volunteering in the then Office of the International Students’ Advisor/Human Rights Consultant. Today, she is the manager of the Office of the International Students’ Advisor/Student Exchanges/Work and Study Abroad and is the first black female manager in the Department of Student Affairs. Her day-to-day work involves interacting with McMaster international students from approximately 97 different countries in their transition to university and community life. She thrives in an accelerated, multi-faceted, multi-cultural work environment. She is committed to cultural diversity and sensitivity to intercultural matters. Cheryl-Ann attributes her success as a good leader to her ability to listen, give respect and build valuable connections with other departments and service providers both on and off-campus.
