Strategy
One of the key trends in alumni relations is the increase in metrics to support decision making and for reporting purposes. With an ever increasing diverse audience, and the reality of steady, and rarely increasing budgets, alumni offices need to be as strategic as possible in delivering a program that will interest, engage and serve the needs of alumni. Over the course of this past year, we have worked on creating the tools with our business analyst to allow a greater ability to analyze the participation of our alumni so that we may better communicate with them about and in the ways that are more likely to ensure they stay engaged. Our newly created alumni engagement index gives us benchmark information which we can assess changes to our program to track our progress. These efforts flow from objective #7 of our current strategic plan: Develop the resources, data and funding to meet the McMaster Alumni Association's strategic goals and support McMaster University. In the coming year, with new data tools in place to better analyze and assess our program and the response of alumni, we look forward to enhancing the sophistication of our planning, implementation and evaluation of our programming to result in an even stronger alumni program. Our current index of 31% alumni engaged is a starting point we wish to improve!
