Expert available to discuss Liberal leadership race in Ontario
Hamilton, Ont. November 5, 2012—The race to replace embattled Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is heating up as candidates step forward to take on the daunting task of leading the Liberal party into what is widely expected to be a tough election next spring.
“In choosing a leader, Ontario Liberals will need to decide whether their declining fortunes were due to the premier or their program,” says political scientist Peter Graefe. “Candidates like Glen Murray slap a new face on McGuinty’s strategy of squeezing the Conservatives. Candidates like Kathleen Wynne want to pull the Liberals back to the centre to undercut Andrea Horwath’s surge in support.”
Graefe is available in the days ahead to discuss the race, the contenders and major issues facing the Liberal government. He is an expert on provincial politics and an experienced commentator. He can be reached at graefep@mcmaster.ca or 905-525-9140, ext. 27716.
(Journalists please note: he is unavailable from 2:30 p.m.to 5:30 p.m. Monday only)
Please note: McMaster is equipped with a television studio to accommodate live and pre-taped interviews for broadcasters.
