Paris shootings are "appalling": expert in global Islamic practices and culture

HAMILTON, January 7, 2015: An expert in Islamic culture is available to comment on the shootings at the satirical Paris magazine Charlie Hebdo, a crime attributed to "terrorists".

"I am appalled and horrified by the Paris shooting. The law of blasphemy is not to be practised in non-Muslim countries," says Liyakat Takim, McMaster's Sharjah Chair in Global Islam.

Takim, a professor of Religious Studies, is available at 647-865-7863 and ltakim@mcmaster.ca
