Beancounting and digital era

Unfortunately, one of the outcomes of the digital era is that beancounters now also have these new digital tools. At my university, the Annual Report requires me to account for my hours on education, research and administration. You can list how many manuscripts or grant applications you reviewed but it does not go in the bean counting. Essentially then you do the reviewing as a volunteer. However, the beancounters do not treat this as community service either.
