Neural Substrates of Sexual Motivation and Performance as Revealed by Neural Immediate-Early Gene Expression

Re: Symposium 310

We used RU 486, which like most P antagonists also binds to glucocorticoid receptors.  We also used ZK 98299, which has the same problem.

The question of whether Fos (or any other immediate early protein) expression is necessary for sexual behavior is an important one that we have started working on, but do not yet have a definitive answer.

>Dr. Blaustein: Great presentation.  Hope you have fun at the meeting.  Two questions.   First what progestin antagonist did you use and how selective is it?  Second, how reliable is the Fos-gene expression as a predictor of sexual behaviour - is it neccessary, sufficient or both?
