898, acute abdomen in pregnancy
Thank you for presenting this most rare case study. The importance of recognizing placenta percreta as a differential diagnosis of acute abdomen is important even in light of its rare prevalence. Placenta accreta is is also worth mentioning from a perspective of clinical importance, as it may cause: 1) life threatening post partum bleeding due to failure of placental separation, 2) may be associated with placenta previa, a condition in which the placenta implants in the lower uterine segment or cervix, often associated once again with serious antepartum bleeding or premature labor. Many cases of placenta previa-associated accreta also occur in cesarean section scars, yet another important clinical consideration. Thank you for your presentation, hope you enjoy the forum!
