Dr Grover:  Thank you for your interest.  The PEAA has the advantage that it has little non-specific binding of nucleic acids so that membrane blocking steps could possibly be eliminated in hybridization steps.  The PEAA in its current configuration is not porous enough and it would not allow fluid to be pulled through the membrane like in slot blots. We are working primarily at the polymer surface and are covalently attaching DNA probe.  This is in contrast to most blotting methods that use physical absorption within the membrane and on the surface and the DNA target is the species usually attached.
