Great presentation. I have some questions.
1) To my knowledge, insulin and amyloid beta peptide have characteristic beta structures.Does IDE recognize the secondary structure of the target proteins? Does oxidative modification bear "common structures" ,which is recognized by IDE, between unrelated proteins? 2) Is IDE in cerebrospinal fluid? 3) Protease activity is often regulated by inhibitor and activator. Do you know endogenuous inhibitors for IDE, such as TIMP for collagenases?
