FIPPA - Freedom of Information Privacy Protection Act


The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) is in place to protect the confidential information of your son or daughter. So, to aid in a smooth transition to University and to foster a clear route of communication, we encourage you to go through these web pages with your child.


On all of our forms you will see the following notation referring to FIPPA:

"The information gathered on this form is collected under the authority of The McMaster University Act, 1976. The information is used solely for the financial administration of McMaster University Student Accounts. This information is being collected under section 39 (2) and section 42 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of Ontario. Questions regarding the collection or use of this personal information should be directed to the Assistant Vice-President (Administration), Downtown Centre, McMaster University".
