McMaster University in conjunction withHamilton Health Sciencesis seeking an academic neurosurgeon. The Hamilton Neurosurgery Program serves a catchment area of more than 2.5 million residents. The regional service also provides tertiary and quaternary level care to patients from other regions of the province and plays an essential role in the support of other regional programs including cardiac/stroke, trauma, and surgical oncology.

The regional neurosurgery service together with the Department of Surgery, McMaster University provides a fully accredited Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada post graduate training program in Neurosurgery. The Service also contributes to undergraduate programs, other postgraduate programs and continuing medical education programs.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience and training in contemporary management of neurosurgical disease appropriate for an academic referral centre and documented proficiency in cerebrovascular neurosurgery with a Fellowship in Endovascular neurosurgery. The ideal candidate will also have an interest in neurocritical care and/or skull base surgery. He/she will be expected to show evidence of interpersonal and collaborative skills and initiative to further advance the clinical and academic productivity of the regional neurosurgical service. The preferred candidate will demonstrate their intent to conduct basic, translational and/or clinical research in their areas of research interest. A full-time appointment at the appropriate level to the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University is required and will be available to the successful applicant.

Applicants must have a Fellowship in Neurosurgery, Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be eligible for independent licensure in the Province of Ontario. Applications must include an up-to-date curriculum vitae, and a description of previous academic experience, as well as of specialty training. Applications must be received by March 30, 2013.
