Tenure-Track Position, Assistant Professor Level
The Department of Anthropology at McMaster University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in cultural anthropology with a focus in political anthropology, including issues of security, humanitarianism, and international intervention; the anthropology of the state and state-building; and democracy, nationalism, and history. Attention to issues of writing and representation is a plus. The geographical area of specialization is open, although preference will be given to candidates with areas of specialization that complement current faculty strengths.
Candidates will have completed a Ph.D. and will have a strong research record and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We expect the person who fills this position to take an active role in scholarship and to contribute to the department’s strong tradition of collegiality and collaboration.
