Contractually Limitied Appointments

The Sociology Department at McMaster University invites applications for a one year contractually limited appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, for the period July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014. Two positions are available.

The successful candidate will be required to teach twenty one units and will be able to demonstrate the ability to teach a range of Sociology courses. The specific courses to be taught will be negotiated with the Chair according to the needs of the Department and the candidate's background. The position includes some administrative responsibilities and some courses may be offered in the evening and/or spring/summer session. The current annual salary floor is $66,243 for an assistant professor. A package of benefits as well as a professional development allowance will be provided.

A PhD in sociology is strongly preferred, but graduate students with ABD status in a sociology PhD program will also be considered. A strong, proven record in teaching sociology courses is required, as is evidence of professional participation in the discipline of sociology, such as research publications and involvement in professional conferences.
