Asociate Dean, Health Sciences and Director, School of Nursing
The Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University is seeking an Associate Dean, Health Sciences and Director, School of Nursing. The McMaster School of Nursing is research intensive and world recognized for the expertise of its faculty, problem-based teaching methodology, collaborative partnerships including a strong consortium with two community college partners for baccalaureate nursing education, an innovative graduate program and international links. Some examples of faculty expertise and areas of excellence in the School of Nursing include educational research, evidence-informed healthcare decision-making, primary healthcare, aging, chronic disease prevention and management, and advanced practice nursing.
The School is committed to excellence and innovation in education, research and clinical practice, and actively contributes to the evolving vision of nursing and health care locally, nationally and internationally. Its mission is to provide responsive and comprehensive quality education for students, to develop nursing and health care knowledge through research at the leading edge of the profession and to promote exemplary nursing practice and the health of individuals and communities at home and abroad.
The Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking an outstanding leader, who exemplifies the University’s core competencies for managers and leaders and demonstrates excellence in academic and clinical competencies. The incumbent should be eligible for licensing as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario. Candidates will have attained a PhD in nursing or a related discipline, and will have strong academic credibility in his/her area of expertise, broad visionary and strategic planning skills, demonstrated administrative experience and superior leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to foster a cohesive and enthusiastic community of faculty, staff and students.
The Associate Dean is a senior administrator accountable to the Dean and Vice-President, Faculty of Health Sciences for directing the educational, research, financial resources and clinical practice activities of the School and aligning these activities with the overall mission of the Faculty. As Director of the McMaster-Mohawk-Conestoga Nursing Consortium the incumbent will have an important role in program delivery through community based partnership.
The appointment will be effective July 1, 2014 for a five-year term with the possibility for renewal. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
