Assistant Professor - Teaching-Track Position
The Political Science Department at McMaster University invites applications for a full-time teaching-track position at the Assistant Professor Level, commencing July 1, 2013. The appointment will be for three years, renewable for a further three years (subject to an academic assessment). During the second term, the appointee will be eligible to be considered for a permanent teaching appointment. The decision whether or not to permanently appoint will be based on demonstrated excellence as a teacher and educator. Preference will be given to candidates with a completed PhD in Political Science or its equivalent, but candidates who are near completion will also be considered.
The Department of Political Science requires a teaching professor committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching within an engaging academic environment. The successful candidate will play an integral role in our core undergraduate program. This includes developing and offering courses on public law, public sector leadership, Canadian politics and institutions, and public policy. The teaching load will be seven one term courses per year (21 units). The teaching professor will take a leading role in the introduction of innovative pedagogical practices and technologies, participate actively in curriculum development, and share expertise with colleagues. Other responsibilities will include student advising and related administrative tasks.

Salary will reflect experience. The salary floor for 2012-13 for an Assistant Professor is $66,243 per annum. A benefits package and professional development allowance will be provided.
