Tenure-Track Position, Assistant Professor Level

The Department of Kinesiology at McMaster University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Exercise and Health Psychology. This position will be of interest to those with training in Kinesiology, Psychology and other related disciplines. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment and will have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. We are looking for an individual with skills that complement and broaden our current focus on psychological and behavioural aspects of physical activity, chronic disease and disability. Specialized training in the area of exercise psychophysiology, and the ability to integrate knowledge and techniques that would foster collaborative links with other areas of research strength, is desirable. Duties will include undergraduate and graduate teaching and graduate supervision. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and the potential to initiate and maintain an independent research program are requirements. Postdoctoral training and demonstrated success in securing research funding would be advantageous. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department of Kinesiology has 17 full-time faculty members and approximately 800 full-time undergraduate students and 50 full-time graduate students. We offer an Honours B.Sc. Applications must consist of a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a research dossier that includes a statement of research interests, a research plan and three representative publications, and a teaching dossier that includes a teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness.
