Academic Posting in the Faculty of Health Sciences

Department of Family Medicine

Medical Director, McMaster Family Practice

McMaster University’s Department of Family Medicine invites applications for a Family Physician to join McMaster Family Practice (MFP) in the full-time position of Medical Director.  This is a busy academic teaching unit located in Hamilton, along the beautiful Niagara escarpment, covers the full spectrum of care in family medicine, and provides early exposure for learners to an inter-professional practice environment.  With plans to be a central part of the new McMaster Health Campus in downtown Hamilton, co-located with Public Health, MFP is embarking on a period of change, growth and new collaborations.

The Medical Director will be responsible for overseeing patient care and related programs and quality improvement initiatives at MFP, working in close collaboration with the Clinic Manager, Family Health Team Co-Leads and Hamilton Site Director (Residency Program) to achieve desired outcomes for patients, families, learners, clinicians and staff.  The Medical Director will report to the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, McMaster University and the Chief of the Department of Family Medicine, Hamilton Health Sciences.   It is expected that the Medical Director will fulfill clinical responsibilities at MFP within her/his scope of practice, including direct patient care and resident teaching and supervision.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of clinical experience, including experience in health services administration. Experience in residency education is an asset.  The incumbent must be a CCFP and be eligible to practice medicine in Ontario.   Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
