Academic Anatomic Pathologist

The Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, McMaster University in conjunction with Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) invites applications for the full-time position of Anatomical Pathologist to join the Department.  Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. 

The HRLMP encompasses four acute care hospital sites and includes pathology laboratories at Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare hospitals. McMaster University plays an integral role in the educational life of Hamilton, providing a stimulating academic environment with unique opportunities for clinical and basic research. The division of Anatomical Pathology employs more than 32 full-time pathologists in all subspecialties and handles close to 50,000 surgical specimens per annum.

This position is for an academically oriented anatomical or general pathologist who enjoys teaching undergraduate and post-graduate trainees.  Preference will be given to candidates with established specialized pathology skills through practice experience or fellowship training and proven academic activity. Current opportunities include Cytopathology, Head and Neck, Gynecological, Breast Pathology and Gastrointestinal Pathology. Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anatomical or General Pathology and be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario.

As a member of the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute to clinical scholarly activities including teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programs.
