Walter G. Booth School of Engineering Practice: Class of 1962 Mechanical Engineering Endowed Chair in Eco-Entrepreneurship

Tenure-Track/Teaching Stream

The Walter G. Booth School of Engineering Practice at McMaster University invites applications from outstanding candidates for the Class of 1962 Mechanical Engineering Endowed Chair in Eco-Entrepreneurship. This tenure/teaching-stream appointment will be at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor and the commencement date of this appointment is flexible.

Qualified applicants must hold an undergraduate degree and PhD in Engineering or a cognate discipline, and will have a demonstrated record of entrepreneurship and innovation in fields relevant to sustainable development. Successful candidates must be familiar with new business start-up methodologies, business development and new product development in a technology-based context.

Applicants are expected to develop and teach graduate courses in engineering entrepreneurship and in sustainability.  The candidate will also assume supervisory responsibility for Engineering Entrepreneurship students in the Masters of Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation program and the Masters of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation program* (*program subject to OCGS approval) More detailed information on these and other programs offered through the Walter G. Booth School for Engineering Practice can be found at http://msep.mcmaster.ca/.  Interaction is expected with potential external mentors and with representatives from funding agencies, angel investors and venture capitalists. 

The successful applicant will work to integrate sustainability principles, applicable to new business start-up, into the Masters programs delivered by the Xerox Centre for Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Centre for Engineering and Public Policy, both housed within the Water G. Booth School for Engineering Practice.  They will facilitate the translation of public policy into entrepreneurial opportunities.
