Applications are invited for the position of Chair, Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University.
The Department is a dynamic sector of the Faculty, providing national and international leading-edge leadership in life science research and education, particularly in areas including stem cells, infectious disease and human metabolism. The Department has state-of-the-art facilities unique in Canada. Faculty members’ research programs have high productivity and impact, and they provide innovative training the Canada’s next generation of life scientists.
The Chair is accountable for the overall administration of the academic department and for the relationship between the Department and the broader academic community. He/she is the spokesperson on the application of faculty and university policies to the department, on curriculum, appointments, and nominations to committees. The successful candidate will play a leading role in academic planning and management within the Faculty of Health Sciences. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, a distinguished record of research, and demonstrated leadership ability. A PhD or MD/PhD in a relevant field of study is required. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Effective date of appointment is July 1, 2013.
