Bachelor of Technology Partnership
Assistant - Associate Professor of Communications - Contractually Limited Appointment
The School of Engineering Technology invites applications for a faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank commencing July 1, 2013 to instruct communications courses, including, but not limited to, first year foundational communication courses in the Bachelor of Technology Program.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Bachelor of Technology four year degree program is a fresh approach to university level education for the dynamic world of engineering. Based out of McMaster University, this joint program with Mohawk College has a unique focus on skills-based learning and the application of engineering and business theory in three degree specializations: Automotive and Vehicle Technology, Biotechnology, and Process Automation Technology. The program was developed in consultation with industry to produce graduates who are work-place ready, able to move from the shop floor to the executive suite, or onwards to studies in Master’s and Doctoral programs in engineering and business.
B.Tech. has emerged as a leader in engineering technology education for those who are analytical, innovative, and learn best by doing. Now the fastest growing program at McMaster, B.Tech. is home to 700 undergraduate students, 20 faculty, and 8 staff. With lecture sizes of approximately 70 students and lab components to complement almost every technical course, B.Tech. is not your typical university engineering program. Our students know the theory, have practical skills, and gain 12 months of co-op work experience in industry before they graduate with both a McMaster University degree and Mohawk College advanced diploma.
THE POSITION
The faculty member will be responsible for providing effective communication instruction that supports academic and future career success in engineering and other technical professions. The curriculum and instruction must be interdisciplinary and focus on students who learn best by doing. We are looking for a faculty member who will bring inspiration, dedication and leadership to our progressive B.Tech. program team.
