Academic Family Physician with an intrest in Obstetrical Care

The Department of Family Medicine is pleased to invite applications for a full time academic family physician with an interest in obstetrics to join the McMaster Family Health Team. Situated in Hamilton along the beautiful Niagara escarpment, the McMaster Family Health Team is comprised of two Clinical Teaching Units: McMaster Family Practice (MFP) and Stonechurch Family Health Centre (SFHC). Together, these busy practices cover the spectrum of care in family medicine and provide early exposure for learners to an interprofessional practice environment.

The ideal candidate will be an academic Family Physician, looking to join an established family practice model which emphasizes the “team” approach to primary care. You will be supported in your clinical work by the expertise of a talented Family Health Team. In your educational role, you will act as a clinical supervisor, mentor and role model to residents, medical students and other learners and contribute to the overall development of the department through leadership, administration and scholarly activities.

In addition, the successful applicant will also have a strong interest in obstetrical care and the ability to provide full care obstetrics within the context of comprehensive Family Medicine. This position will be co-located with the McMaster Family Health Team and the Maternity Centre of Hamilton. The Maternity Centre of Hamilton offers comprehensive maternity care through a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers and a lactation consultant. This collaborative model allows for sustainability of full intrapartum care for family physicians with minimal lifestyle and occupational disruptions. As a teacher in the Centre, you will further develop your residents understanding of obstetrical care and successfully prepare them for this aspect of their future practice.

Applicants must have CCFP certification and a license to practice medicine in the province of Ontario. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Interested candidates should forward their curriculum vitae to:
