Two (2) Stem Cell Clinician Scientist / Faculty Positions

The Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University invites applications for two (2) positions for established clinician investigators in the field of human stem cell research - one with specific emphasis on blood stem cells and one with specific emphasis on neural stem cells. Successful applicants will hold either the Boris Family Chair in Human (Blood) Stem Cells or the Boris Family Chair in Human (Neural) Stem Cells, as well as academic and clinical appointments within the Faculty of Health Sciences at a rank commensurate with their credentials and experience.

Successful candidates will bring an invigorating individual perspective that will drive exciting and innovative research and therapeutic application to complement the work of our existing team of dynamic investigators in the McMaster Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute (SCC-RI). SCC-RI researchers are currently exploring key questions in human stem cell biology related to signaling, cancer and tissue regeneration.

We provide a collaborative research environment equipped with new, state-of-the-art infrastructure. McMaster is known as a leading Canadian and international centre for human stem cell research. The Boris family’s recent gift of $30 million, of which $24 million will create the Boris Family Centre for Human Stem Cell Therapies, will greatly enhance this reputation.

We are actively seeking accomplished stem cell clinician scientists to build and lead teams of experts to implement the proof of principle testing that is required in the fields of blood and neural stem cells in human therapies. Experience with human stem cells and preclinical in vivo models will be favoured, but is not essential. Particular attention will be paid to candidates that have demonstrated integration within cross-discipline or industrial collaborations to establish and capitalize upon new mechanisms for investigating stem cell therapies.

Qualifications:

The successful candidates must possess an MD or MD/PhD with experience in a relevant field, coupled with an excellent publication record and demonstrated teaching/mentoring experience. Demonstrated potential to attract independent research funding will be considered an asset. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research and clinical experience, a summary of future plans and the names of three references by September 28, 2012 to:
