University Technology Services

Using Windows Vista on Campus

On January 30, 2007, Microsoft introduced the operating system "Windows Vista". While this operating system offers a number of enhancements over previous versions of Windows, University Technology Services is actively testing this product to ensure compatibility with other software used on campus. Until compatibility is assured, UTS does not recommend upgrading to this version of Windows.

The most notable of these enhancements is the web browser, Windows Internet Explorer version 7.0. There are known compatibility issues in this product with other software used on campus.

Microsoft Office 2007 users should note that Office 2003, XP and 2000 users must install a Microsoft Compatibility Tool to work with 2007 files. Alternatively, Office 2007 files can be saved as a lower version of Office.

Below is a listing of software and the status as it relates to compatibility with Windows Vista. Check back for updates.
