USB Drives
The recommended storage device in the Student Computer Labs is a portable USB flash drive or key. Such devices are available from many vendors, and are commonly known as a USB drive, key, or stick.

All Student Computer Labs are equipped with USB ports (or cables) that are accessible at the front of the machine for your convenience.
If you intend to use a portable USB device in the Student Computer Labs, make sure that it is "driverless" when used with Windows XP. The device will need to use the "USB mass storage device" driver built-in to the operating system. This should include all newer models, but older USB drives might not work. |
Some of the advantages of using a portable USB drive:
- Reliability
- Capacity (most models range from 15 MB to 8 GB)
- Speed
- Portability
- Security (some models)
- Price
