Getting an IP Address
Faculty requests for IP addresses or modifications could be directed to these individuals with access to Web DNS or the UTS Network group via the Service Desk. Administrative groups should also contact the Service Desk. You can send email to uts@mcmaster.ca or call extension 24357.

The Network Interface Card Physical Address:
Note: The Physical address (also known as "ethernet", "hardware" or "adapter" address) must be entered as hh:hh:hh:hh:hh:hh. For example, 00:04:36:9b:df:0a. If your operating system is Windows 2000 or Windows XP, type "ipconfig /all" at the DOS/Command Prompt (without the quotes) and it will display your IP address and all the TCP/IP configuration information for the network card, including the Physical Address. Type "winipcfg" for Windows 98 computers. For unix/linux and variants, "ifconfig" will normally display this information. If you are having any difficulty determining the Physical Address, please ask your computer support representative to assist you, and to submit this information.
