Using Netscape Messender to convert Address Book from PC-Pine
1. Locate your PC-Pine address book file and convert it to a LDIF file:
- Click on the Start button, choose Find, and then choose Files or Folders.
- Type addrbook in the Named: field.
- Change the setting in the Look in: field to My Computer.
- Click on the Find Now button.
- Write down the path of the addrbook file. The path is under the In Folder column of the search results. This example shows the default path of C:\YNET\PCPINE32 (which York University uses). If you used the UTS documentation for PC-Pine then you should see the path: c:\home\pine otherwise you should use the path you have just written.
- Type the path followed by \addrbook into the box below, and then click on the Submit Query button. For example if the path was c:\home\pine, you would type c:\home\pine\addrbook in the box below and then click on the Submit Query button.

2. Import the LDIF file into Netscape Messenger on a PC:
- Start Netscape Navigator or Messenger.
- Click on the Communicator menu, and choose Address Book
- Click on the address book that you want to import into. It is usually labeled Personal Address Book.

- Click on the File menu, and choose Import.
- Click on LDIF file (address book), and then click on the Next button.
- Open the pine.ldif file that was saved on your hard drive from part 1 (e.g. C: drive, Temp folder, pine.ldif).
- Verify your Netscape Messenger address book is correct.
3. Import the LDIF file into Netscape Messenger on a MAC:
- Start Netscape Navigator or Messenger.
- Click on the Communicator menu, and choose Address Book.
- Click on the address book that you want to import into. It is usually labeled "Personal Address Book".

- Click on the File menu, and choose Import Address Book.
- Open the pine.ldif file that was previously saved on your Macintosh desktop by locating and double-clicking it.

- Now you are done with importing the Pine address book file. You might want to take a look at the error.txt file (using SimpleText or Word) to see if there were any problems/errors from part A. The error.txt file contains information that tells you which line(s) of your Pine address book that might have problems so you can fix them in your Netscape Messenger address book.
- Verify your Netscape Messenger address book is correct.
