BlackBerry devices and McMaster's Corporate Calendar

Blackberry

Corporate Calendar is a calendar and scheduling software application that can be used to schedule events, resources and tasks with users across McMaster University in order to coordinate meetings at convenient times, as well as receive reminders before scheduled meetings.

There are 2 options available to accessing Corporate Calendar on the Blackberry.


Option A

Open the Blackberry browser and go to https://calendar.mcmaster.ca. Logon with your Calendar account information. Note: This will not work on a Blackberry 8800 browser.

Option B

Access Corporate Calendar through a sync client installed on the Blackberry.The BlackBerry sync application will provide access, after synchronization, to your Corporate Calendar Meetings and To-Do lists. The data synchronized is 2 weeks past and 2 months forward for customers licensed for the new BlackBerry sync client.

Currently, the sync client works with the following models and certain errors may occur for technical reasons.

  Curve 8100  
  Blackberry 8800  
  Blackberry 8700r  


You must apply for a Blackberry sync licence through the Calendar Download Manager at https://caldepot.mcmaster.ca/ before installing software on your Blackberry.

If you choose to purchase and install the Blackberry Sync client (option B above), there are 2 ways to install it on your unit outlined below. Make sure your Blackberry has the OS version 4.02 or higher. (For more information on the Blackberry OS version see Rogers website).

Option 1

To install Blackberry Sync

  1. On your Blackberry, open the browser and go to http://www.nexthaus.com/bb/syncjebb.jad. You will be prompted to download and install the sync client.

  2. Follow this link for configuration information you must enter into the sync software on your Blackberry. You will need the licence information sent to you after your request for a licence was processed.

Option 2

To install Blackberry Sync (Do not use for Curve 8310)

These instructions assume that BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4 (or higher) is already installed on your desktop.

  1. Setup the Blackberry SyncJe client on your computer by following this instruction.

  2. Iinstall the sync client on your Blackberry through the Blackberry Desktop Manager by following this instruction.

  3. Follow this link for configuration information you must enter into the sync software on your Blackberry. You will need the licence information sent to you after your request for a licence was processed.
