- When accessing the MacConnect network for the first time, you are prompted to install the MacConnect Clean Access Agent. Open your web browser and enter your MAC ID identification and password.

- From the Agent download page, click the Download Clean Access Agent button and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

- Once again, enter your MAC ID username and password.
- The MacConnect Clean Access Agent will scan your system to ensure minimum OS requirements are met. The next few screens only appear if your system does not meet one or more of those requirements. You are given a fixed period of time to bring your system into compliance before automatic logout occurs. This means you have temporally limited network access and time to make the necessary updates to your operating system.

- If the Clean Access Agent reports you have Temporary access, it means that your computer did not meet the minimum requirements for access. The next few screens report exactly what needs fixing.

- This screen appears when no Antivirus software was found. Install supported Antivirus software to correct the problem. Clean Access recognizes many Antivirus products. If you do not have one of the above products, McMaster makes Sophos Antivirus available to MacConnect clients free of Charge.
To download Sophos, visit:
https://antivirus.mcmaster.ca/.
You must provide your MAC ID credentials to download the product. Please follow the installation instructions carefully. You need to enter your MAC ID into the program configuration, in order to complete the installation and allow automatic updates.

- In this example, supported Antivirus software was found, however, the virus signatures are older than 30 days. Many of the Antivirus products will update automatically by clicking the Update button. If the Update button is grayed out or doesn't work, please update your Antivirus software manually.

- This warning appears when you are missing critical Service Packs or Patches for your Windows Operating system. To correct this situation, run Windows Update by clicking the Go To Link button. Install all High Priority patches or service packs. Continue to run Windows Update until no High Priority updates remain.

- Access to the MacConnect network requires that you review and accept the following Network Usage Policy. Click the "Network Usage Terms & Conditions" link to read it, then click Accept.

- Access Granted. The agent remains in your System Tray at all times. Click the icon and select Logoff to disconnect from the MacConnect Network. Automatic logoff also occurs if you shutdown your computer, or remain idle on the MacConnect network for more than 10 minutes. By default, the Agent Login window will always re-appear prompting you to login. You can disable this behavior by unchecking the "Popup Login Window".
