The best practices outlined in these pages are based on industry best practices and offer guidance to system administrators regarding appropriate management and configuration of systems. While standards and guidelines offer configuration settings which are specific to a type of system, best practices provide the generalized base upon which guidelines and standards can be built.
IT Security analyzes and audits risk as it pertains to McMaster University information assets. It is through these activities that IT Security will continue to develop the best practices. IT Security welcomes and encourages the feedback of all McMaster University systems administrators and data owners in the continuous improvement and development of these guidelines.
