Getting Started
Wireless MacConnect users must be authenticated prior to installing and configuring the VPN client. Important: If you use the MacSecure Wireless SSID, you do not need a VPN. VPN is really intended for home users. Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for Apple iOS provides similar functionality to the AnyConnect client for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. When you open the application, the Home tab is displayed.

From this tab you can switch AnyConnect VPN on and off. When you are connected to a VPN, an icon is displayed in the status area. The status of the current connection is shown below the switch. Select Add VPN Connection to add a new connection.
Configuring a VPN Connection
Whether you are adding a new VPN connection or configuring an existing connection, the screen you see is the same. Type MacVPN for the connection name, and macvpn.mcmaster.ca as the server address. Select Save to save your changes.

Connecting to VPN
Select the MacVPN profile and swipe the OFF button to turn the VPN ON. Leave the Group as Default. Enter your own MAC ID and password for Username and Password respectively. Press the Connect button at the top right of your screen to make your first VPN connection.

About AnyConnect Profiles
After your first successful connection AnyConnect will download a few profiles that you should now use to connect. In fact, you can delete the profile you initially created because it's no longer needed. To do that:
- Select MacVPN
- Press the
button. - Select the red "Delete VPN Connection" button.

As before, enter your own MAC ID username and password, and click the Connect button on the top right hand corner of your screen. Disconnecting from the VPN is as simple as sliding the AnyConnect ON button to the OFF position.

While your VPN is connected, iOS will place the letters VPN on the upper left of the status bar. This serves as a reminder you are connected to the VPN. To completely remove the AnyConnect client, place your finger on the AnyConnect icon and hold it there until all the desktop icons begin to shake. Then click the X on the icon and follow the prompts.
