Setting up Windows XP for MacONLINE
Checking your Network Card 1. Right Click on the My Computer icon. (found either on your desktop or in your start menu).
2. Click on Properties, Hardware, Device Manager.
3. Click the +sign beside Network Adapters; Your network adapter should be listed. It should look similar to Figure A. Once done, close both open windows.

Checking your IP settings 4. Double click on the My Computer icon.
5. On the left hand side of the window select My Network Places (seen in Figure B)

6. Next, select View Network Connections.
7. Right Click on Local Area Connection and select Properties
8. Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
9. Click Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.(see Figure C)

10. Click, Ok, Ok
Verifying your connection. 11. Click on the Start button, select Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt.
12. Type ipconfig /release [Enter]. Then type ipconfig /renew [Enter]. You should see output similar to the following:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix......:mcmaster.ca
IP Address................................ :130.113.20.6
Subnet Mask.................................:130.113.220.6
Default Gateway...........................:130.113.220.5
Congratulations... MacOnline should be set up and functioning with no problems. Good luck and have fun!!!
