Setting up Windows 2000 for MacONLINE
Checking your Network Card 1. From the Windows 2000 Desktop, Right Click My Computer.
2. Click on Properties, Hardware, Device Manager.
3. Click the + sign beside Network Adapters; Your network adapter should be listed. It should look similar to Figure A. Once done, close both open windows.

Checking your IP settings 4. Click Start, Settings, Network and Dial-up Connections.
5. Right click on Local Area Connection (there may be more than one so use the one that is not greyed out), then Click Properties. Your screen should look like Figure B

6. Double click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
7. Click Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically
8. Click OK, OK.
Verifying your connection 9. Click on the Start button, select Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt.
10. Type ipconfig /release [Enter]. Then type ipconfig /renew [Enter]. You should see output similar to the following:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix......:mcmaster.ca
IP Address................................ :130.113.20.6
Subnet Mask.................................:130.113.220.6
Default Gateway...........................:130.113.220.5
Congratulations... MacOnline should be set up and functioning with no problems. Good luck and have fun!!!
