Setting up your browser for MacONLINE
After you have followed the appropriate steps to set your PC up for MacOnline service, you can open your browser to see if it connects. If your home page does not open, or your browser attempts to dial a connection, try the following:
For Windows 95
- Click Start, Settings, Control Panel; Double click the Internet Icon. Click Connection
- Click Connect to the Internet using local area network. Click Apply (if needed) then OK.
For Windows 98/2000
- Click Start, Settings, Control Panel; Open Internet Options then Click Connections then Setup.
- Click the third option [LAN]; Click Next
- Click the second option [LAN]; Click Next; uncheck any boxes and Click Next again.
- Click "NO" to answer "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now." Click Next then Click "Finish".
(You may need your operating system CD for these changes)
For Windows XP
- Double click on the My Computer icon. (Found either on your desktop or in your start menu).
- Under the heading Other Places select Control Panel
- Open Internet Options, then click Connections, then Setup
- On the opening screen click next, choose "Connect to the Internet" click Next
- Choose "Set up my connection manually" click Next, choose "Connect using a broadband connection that is always on" click Next, then click Finish.
