Ongoing Maintenance
Your MAC ID password is used to gain access to a variety of services. You are reminded to protect the confidentiality of your MAC ID and associated password. Please treat them the same way as you would your bank account PIN. Do not share them with anyone. Click here for the MAC ID password strength requirement. If you suspect that your MAC ID or password has been compromised, please contact the Technology Service Desk immediately at 905-525-9140 extension 24357.
Change your MAC ID Password
- Open your web browser.
- Enter the URL https://apps.mcmaster.ca/macid-self-management/password-change/index.htm.
- Follow the prompts.
Establish or change your personal challenge questions
Setting up your personal challenge questions allows you change a forgotten MAC ID password. This is possible through a secure web connection at anytime. It will save you a visit to BSB Room 245 for a password reset. Remember to keep confidential your personal challenge questions and answers.
- Open your web browser.
- Enter the URL: https://adweb.cis.mcmaster.ca/cis/ahtml/login.htm
- Click on MUGGI under Student Applications (menu on the left)
- Login with your macid and click continue
- Click on Manage your MAC ID under QUICK LINKS (menu on the right)
- Click on Establish/Change Challenge Questions & Answers and follow instructions highlighted.
Renew your MAC ID Terms and Conditions
The terms and conditions for your MAC ID can be found at www.mcmaster.ca/uts/security/policy/Terms_Conditions/macid.html. Please note that it must be renewed annually. If there is a change in the terms and conditions, you will be notified when utilizing a MAC ID enabled service.
Verify your MAC ID
Use this feature to verify your MAC ID and Password. Remember MAC ID is used for authentication and not authorization. If you successfully verify your MAC ID and password but are unable to access a MAC ID service, please contact the administrator to resolve the problem.
Forgot your MAC ID?
If you have forgotten your MAC ID, use the Forgot Your MAC ID feature as a reminder. You will be prompted for the relevant pieces of information.
Forgot your MAC ID password?
You have a few options to reset a forgotten MAC ID password.
Option 1
Using the self service MAC ID password reset feature:
- Open your web browser
- Enter the URL http://www.mcmaster.ca/uts/macid/index.html
- Under "Ongoing Maintenance" select "Forgot your Password"
- Follow the prompts
Option 2
If you are unable to change or reset your own password, contact the Service Desk at extension 24357 or come to Technology Services, BSB, Room 245 (Building 11 on your campus map). Remember to have your student ID or Employee card with you. Password resets take effect immediately.
Option 3
You may fax a copy of your ID card (both sides!) to the UTS Main Office (our fax # is 905-528-3773). In this case, your password will be reset to the lower case first letter of your surname followed by your student/employee id number. The reset will be done as soon as possible upon receipt of the fax, within one business day. You may speak with someone at the Technology Service Desk by calling 905-525-9140 ext 24357.

McMaster is strengthening its password system and all MAC ID passwords established before February 19, 2013 must be changed.
