Getting Started
MAC ID is your unique, common identifier, single sign-on for a number of McMaster systems and applications. It is an important step in working together as one University, the creation of a University without boundaries, the enhancement of the student experience and the transformation to a client-centric services delivery model.
Please note your MAC ID is not your student or employee number.
StudentsNew students are required to activate their MAC ID. To do so visit MUGSI and select "Activate Your MAC ID". Please have your student card on hand for this process. You will be asked for your student number, barcode on your student card and Date of Birth. Begin at Activation and Services Guide for Students.
Returning students already have a MACID. You must complete your course registration and make payment arrangements before enabling your MAC ID services for the academic year. Visit MUGSI and select "Enable Your MAC ID Services". Please note MAC ID is not your student number. Begin at Activation and Services Guide for Students.
EmployeesYour MAC ID provides authenticated access to a range of technology services including MacConnect, MacVote, Office Servers, Proxy Service, TrendMicro and Virtual Private Network (VPN). As of May 1, 2007 UnivMail email service are using MAC ID for authenication. Please note MAC ID is not your employee number.
Retirees & AlumniRetirees and Alumni have a MAC ID. If you do not remember your MAC ID, please contact the Service Desk. As of May 1, 2007 UnivMail email service is using MAC ID for authenication. Please note MAC ID is not your employee number.
Others
Visiting presenters or partners who require a MAC ID should contact their McMaster University sponsors to request a MAC ID on their behalf.
