Changes to MAC ID Service for
all employees, retirees and alumni

To enhance security and enable client self-sufficiency MAC ID (logon) process at McMaster will change as of Friday May 18, 2007. Clients are strongly advised to go through the enhancement process before May 18, 2007.

In a few steps, you will enjoy the benefits of MAC ID Service Enhancement:

  • One username and password for authorized resources (MacConnect - wireless & public data jack access, UnivMail Email, VPN, etc.)
  • Online username and password management

Step 1:

Complete the MAC ID Service Enhancement Process. Click http://www.mcmaster.ca/uts/macid/msep.htm and then in the Quick Links section click on MAC ID Service Enhancement Process and follow the steps.

Step 2:

Remove saved password in e-mail client. University Technology Services strongly advises against the practice of saving passwords, however, if you have, here is how to remove it http://www.mcmaster.ca/ctl/emailpswdchg.htm.

Important:

If you use a RIM Blackberry with Univmail e-mail and have saved your logonid and password in the Blackberry web client you will need to change this as well. Here is how=> http://www.mcmaster.ca/ctl/bbwebpswd.htm

If you use a Palm PDA and have saved your logon id and password in Versamail, you will need to change this as well. Here is how=> http://www.mcmaster.ca/ctl/versamail.htm

Step 3:

Restart your computer and use your MAC ID and password to log into Univmail e-mail and all authorized resources.
