| Open Outlook 2000
1. Click Tools
on the Menu bar and select Accounts. Select the Mail tab. Click
on Add and select Mail.

2.Enter your fullname. Click on Next.

3. Enter
your email address beside Email address. The standard email format is
emailid@mcmaster.ca. Click on Next.

4. Select
IMAP for the incoming server. Enter univmail.cis.mcmaster.ca for both
incoming and outgoing servers.

5. Enter
your username. Click on Next.

6. Select
connect using my local area network (LAN) if you are located on campus.
Click on Next.

6. Click
on Finish. Close the Internet Accounts window.

7. The
Internet E-mail - univmail.cis.mcmaster.ca window will prompt for your
password. Enter your password. Click on OK.

8. Select
univmail.cis.mcmaster.ca and right click. Select IMAP Folders.
Click on All tab. Click on Query. Subscribe to all folders. Uncheck When
display hierarchy in Outlook, show only subscribed folders. Click on Apply
and click on OK.

You may
choose to create local folders for organizing and storing mail.
9. Deleting messages
The default setting for deleting messages on an IMAP server is to "mark" them for
deletion. The icon will have a red "X" on it and the message header
will have a line through it ("strikethrough"). This means the
messages are still in your account on the server, taking up disk space, and
will not be removed from the server until you "purge" them. When you
are certain you don't want the marked messages anymore, purge them from the
server by selecting Purge Deleted Messages from the Edit
menu. Purged
messages cannot be retrieved
