The Club can accommodate on-site ceremonies, receptions, dinners and dances for parties ranging from the most intimate event up to 160 invited guests. When you reserve the University Club for a wedding your event takes precedence, meaning that you have exclusive use of the entire facility for the duration of your event.

Traditional Wedding Reception

Selecting the Club for a traditional style wedding reception – ceremony (if held on-site), pre-dinner reception, dinner, post-dinner dance – allows your guests to enjoy every aspect of our historic venue. 

Should you choose to have your ceremony on-site, you can select to utilize either the Club’s Great Hall or the adjoining Balcony (maximum 44 people), depending on the number of guests.  After the ceremony, the Club’s service team will efficiently re-set the Great Hall and/or balcony for your pre-dinner cocktail reception – traditionally consisting of passed hors d’oeuvres and canapés selections and a personally tailored beverage service.  When the time arrives for dinner, your guests are invited to relocate to the lower the level Dining Room, where they are greeted with crisp linens, sparkling glassware, soft lighting, and the setting sun.  After dinner service, when speeches and thanks are completed, your guests are encouraged back to a refreshed Great Hall, where candle light and your DJ service or live band set the mood for the post-dinner program. 

The maximum capacity of the Club for a traditional wedding reception is 130 guests, including the wedding party.

Marchée Style Wedding Reception

A Marchée Style Wedding Reception is gaining in popularity as a more relaxed and less formal style of wedding reception.  Depending on the number of invited guests, the Club will recommend whether you utilize multiple levels of the facility, or simply utilize one level to maintain the intimacy of your event.

This style of service traditionally begins with a cocktail reception of passed hors d’oeuvres and canapés selections and a personally tailored beverage service.  Guests are encouraged to mingle and move about the Club throughout the event.  At the conclusion of the cocktail reception portion of the event, stationary food displays and Chef’s stations come alive throughout the room – enticing your guests with beautifully decorated platters of savoury foods, fully serviced carving stations, seafood stations and dessert stations.  As this portion of the event concludes, the lights are lowered and the music volume is increased, as your DJ or live band entertains your guests for the remainder of the evening.

The maximum capacity of the Club for a Marchée Style Wedding Reception is 160 guests, including the wedding party.
