Reports

Financial information is disseminated outside of University Advancement with approval from one of our following Senior Managers:

  • Vice-President of University Advancement
  • Associate Vice-President of University Advancement
  • Director of Advancement Services
  • Director of Alumni Advancement
  • Director of Development
  • Director of Major Gifts

When approved, Advancement Services staff are assigned to produce the requested information. The services of all four areas – Biographical, Donations, Research and Systems may be required to fulfil your requirements. To ensure that you receive your information on a timely basis, please allow a minimum of five business days for us to supply standardized report requests. Customized requests take longer so timing should be discussed with the Director of Advancement Services to make certain that we are able to meet your needs.

Training

Donations staff have created two standard training sessions for McMaster employees who are authorized to access the University Advancement database, donors’ donation screens. These two training sessions are held monthly. You can view the schedule to learn the dates for the up-coming sessions by clicking Training Schedule. The Advancement Services receptionist will book you into any sessions needed, as the Training Schedule is a read-only document. The training sessions build on each other, so they are taken in sequence.

To set up any special or customized training regarding trust management, events processing, or other charitable giving issues, please contact the Director of Advancement Services or the Donations staff for either information or participation.

Consultation

The Donations staff and their Director of Advancement Services welcome inquiries concerning the legal requirements of tax receipting. If questions arise about the definition of a “gift” as set out by the Canada Revenue Agency or McMaster University’s policies, please contact our office. Additionally, we are available to discuss ways of structuring a fundraising event to ensure that participants can receive tax receipts, if that is desirable.

For University Advancement database users, we are on hand to suggest ways of extracting information from the database through either do-it-yourself reports or report-request submissions to the programming staff of Advancement Services.
