Sustainable Future Project

Get Involved

The Sustainable Future Project wants YOUR Help

There are two specific ways to get involved:

  1. Become a "Project Champion" Submit project ideas! If students like the ideas, they may offer to give your project a try! You'll benefit from the hard work of students who care about contributing, and who want to do a good job on a real life, tangible project.
  2. Become a "Community Contributor" and act as a mentor for students. Tell us about your interests and expertise, and you'll be listed on our database. Students will be able to contact you to ask for feedback and help along the way. You can contribute as much as you like, and set your own limits to your involvement.

If you are interested in getting involved, please fill out and submit one of the forms below.

Whether you can be involved personally or not, we hope you'll share in the excitement of this new project!

Please contact sfp@mcmaster.ca with any updates or changes to your submission. Responding with your submission confirmation e-mail attached would be greatly appreciated.

Become a Project Champion
To provide guidance and direction to students throughout their experiential learning project, we are looking for people who want to work directly with students during the term to act as Project Champions. It is anticipated that the individual submitting a project idea is also interested in acting as the Project Champion.

In order to support more than 20 experiential learning projects between January and May, 2012 we are looking for help from members of the McMaster and broader community.   Want to start a local garden?  Looking to save some money gaining efficiencies?  Have an idea for a community event?  Need a little help getting an innovative idea off the ground?  That's the type of stuff we're looking for.  Projects should include some aspect of community engagement and have some practical outcomes achievable within a four-month academic term (which means installing Hamilton's next generation public transit system is a bit too ambitious, but installing a permeable paving walkway, organizing a sustainability-related event, or conducting a building Greenhouse Gas Inventory would be great project ideas).

Become a Community Collaborator
To provide further support to students developing and implementing their projects, we are looking for community members to act as mentors and/or resources. Community Contributors may be individuals with expert knowledge, have unique skills and/or ability, as well as able to provide mentorship to students. Community Contributors will not take on the role or responsibility of a Project Champion, but rather assist by working with the student group and their Project Champion to develop the project for successful implementation.
