Vice-President, Research and International Affairs  

The Office of the Vice President, Research and International Affairs is dedicated to supporting McMaster University’s research enterprise.

Under the leadership of Mo Elbestawi, the Office oversees the research activities within the University and is responsible for the aggressive pursuit of new partnerships, nationally and internationally, designed to capitalize on McMaster's significant research strengths.

McMaster’s research offices support the research activities of the University’s six faculties. The faculties of Engineering, Science, Social Science, Humanities and Business are administered by the Office of Research and International Affairs.

McMaster Industry Liaison Office (MILO)

 

The McMaster Industry Liaison Office (MILO) is responsible for the administration of research contracts, all funding from the private sector, and all matters relating to intellectual property, including patenting and licensing activities.

Research Office for Administration, Development & Support ~ROADS (formerly Office of Research Services)  

The primary responsibilities of the Research Office for Administration, Development & Support (ROADS) focus on administration of government infrastructure programs and not-for profit grants; financial management of research funds; ethics of non-medical research involving human subjects; and research policies and procedures.

 

The staff of ROADS provide the administrative support for the facilitation/promotion of research activities of academic staff in the Faculties of Business, Engineering, Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences.

Research Finance


Our team of experienced professionals will help you access the grant money you’ve been awarded and assist you in adhering to university policies, the terms of the grant agreement and granting agency rules.

On behalf of researchers, McMaster Research Finance:

  • prepares and submits financial reports in accordance with the granting agency guidelines
  • prepares and submits invoice, request for payments and reimbursements
  • reviews financial status of accounts and prepares adjustments
  • provides guidance for budget preparation, eligibility and allocation of expenses, and other administrative issues, including avoiding overdraft situations

These services significantly reduce the burden on researchers of administering a grant.


 
Health Research Services  

The Health Research Services Office (HRS) provides advice and administrative support to process operating and personnel grants, manages research resources and administers the ethics review process for medical research involving human and animal subjects.

Office of International Affairs   The Office of International Affairs facilitates exchange agreements, establishes institutional linkages and coordinates externally funded international projects and programmes concerned with collaborative research, education and human resource development. It seeks to improve the delivery of services in such sectors as business, environmental protection, community health, engineering, and technology development and transfer.

Research and High-Performance Computing Support   The Research and High-Performance Computing Support department provides desktop and server system administration, programming support, and high-performance computing for the McMaster research community.
