Science in the City
Past Lectures
January - June2003
Whether they're using giant telescopes to explore the farthest
reaches of the universe or miniature cameras and surgical robots
to assist in delicate surgeries, McMaster University researchers
are involved in exciting science.
Our researchers have a passion for the work that they do and enjoy
sharing their research stories and successes with the community.
In January 2003, McMaster University, in partnership with the Hamilton
Spectator, launched the first Science in the City
lecture series, an opportunity for the university to reach out to
the community, offering people a chance to hear McMaster scientists
talk about what they do.
The series was presented on a pilot basis and based on its success
– more than 1000 attended the six lectures series –
Science in the City will continue with free monthly
public lectures from September 2003 to June 2004.
These pages include information about our past lectures, including
lecture abstracts, information about the lecturers themselves and
the articles that appeared in the Hamilton Spectator, our continuting
partner in the Science in the City lecture series.
