MMRI is a partnership in manufacturing engineering among
university researchers, industry and government intended to
develop new products and technologies and bring them to market.
Involving several departments within the Faculty of Engineering,
the MMRI operates laboratories for machining, metal forming,
polymer processing, robotics and manufacturing automation.
Dr. Hrymak, who is promoting several initiatives to encourage
university-industry collaboration, says, “The McMaster
Manufacturing Research Institute is one of the largest university
manufacturing research institutes in Canada. The Institute
promotes, encourages and performs fundamental and applied
research, in co-operation with its industry partners, and
provides systematic mechanisms for technology transfer and
diffusion of knowledge and research results.”
